Senior Mechanical Engineer IV (Communications)

Location: Carpentersville, Illinois, United States; onsite, full-time

Target base salary: $110,000–$125,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Define mechanical concepts, system architectures, and performance specifications for ruggedized communication products.
• Lead multiple product-development efforts from concept through production release, including schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Perform stress, tolerance, thermal, environmental, and statistical analyses using manual methods and CAE tools.
• Develop and review 3D CAD layouts for assemblies, subassemblies, and components using CREO.
• Prototype, test, and iterate products against IP-rated sealing, MIL-STD durability, drop, vibration, and thermal-cycling requirements.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, vendors, and customers while supporting production, root-cause analysis, MRB activities, and design improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with extensive mechanical CAD use; CREO experience is preferred.
• Expertise in plastics, elastomers, die-cast metals, overmolding, and mechanical integration with PCBs.
• Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and environmental and ruggedization requirements.
• Ability to lead complex engineering projects with minimal supervision and work effectively in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
