Senior Engineer - Occupant Safety (Automotive): Developing, integrating, and validating occupant protection systems for the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle platform with an accent on airbags, restraints, crash sensors, occupant detection, and crashworthiness. Focus on crash testing, FMVSS compliance, systems engineering, supplier coordination, and resolving production and validation issues.

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States; full-time onsite role

Salary: $73,200–$117,800 per year

What you will do

  • Design, develop, integrate, and validate occupant safety systems for current and future vehicle platforms.
  • Maintain system requirements, engineering specifications, validation plans, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Plan and support crash tests, analyze test data, and drive follow-up engineering actions.
  • Evaluate performance, reliability, durability, manufacturability, cost, and compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
  • Coordinate component development, validation, issue resolution, and continuous improvement with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Support prototype builds, manufacturing, production issue resolution, and engineering change management.

Requirements

  • Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Three or more years of related engineering experience, preferably in automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy vehicle, or a related industry.
  • Experience with occupant safety systems, restraint systems, crashworthiness, vehicle safety engineering, or vehicle crash testing.
  • Knowledge of FMVSS and occupant protection requirements, systems engineering, and requirements management.
  • Working knowledge of automotive electrical systems and integration; experience with Creo, CATIA, NX, or comparable CAD systems.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, solve engineering problems, support less experienced engineers, and travel up to 15%.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with airbags, seat belts, restraint control modules, crash sensors, or occupant detection systems.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, engineering change management, and product development from concept through production.
