TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer - Machine & Grind (Machining, Grinding & Robotics): Developing and improving machining and robotic grinding processes in a stainless steel foundry with an accent on process ownership, quality, productivity, and Lean Manufacturing. Focus on solving root-cause and part-quality issues, optimizing tooling and inspection equipment, developing robotic programs, and managing capital projects.

Location: Onsite in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States. No regular travel is required, though travel may occasionally be needed for training and new equipment qualifications. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Salary: $73,600–$117,900 per year.

What you will do

  • Own processes in the machining and backstand grinding departments.
  • Develop and refine equipment and processes to reduce scrap, rework, and product costs.
  • Manage projects addressing root causes, part-quality issues, tooling, inspection equipment, and capital investments.
  • Develop processes for new products and collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, supervisors, controls teams, and vendors.
  • Prepare work instructions for ISO compliance and apply DMAIC and other continuous improvement methods.
  • Become the plant subject matter expert for machining and robotic grinding, including robotic finishing equipment programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 3–8 years of process engineering experience in CNC machining, grinding, and/or robotics.
  • Strong mechanical and hands-on aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage and prioritize projects independently.
  • Ability to read and understand part and tooling prints and modify prints using CAD.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

  • Okuma OSP, Fanuc robotics, RobotMaster, Mastercam, SolidWorks, Creo, or Autodesk experience.
  • Experience defining machine-tooling specifications and optimizing machining processes.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, metal-finishing abrasives, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
