Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Machining)

Location: Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, United States. On-site in a manufacturing area; the role requires standing, walking, stooping or kneeling, and lifting or moving 50+ pounds. Due to ITAR regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or foreign nationals with refugee or asylee status; temporary visa holders are not eligible.

Salary: $99,900–$149,900 per year, plus bonus opportunity.

What you will do

• Lead cross-disciplinary development and improvement of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, equipment, and tooling strategies.
• Translate product designs into repeatable manufacturing workflows and support production readiness and handoff to production.
• Troubleshoot machining bottlenecks and quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze products and processes to improve cost, quality, efficiency, yield, cycle time, scrap, and overhead.
• Lead or participate in lean manufacturing initiatives such as kaizen and 5S events.
• Manage complex projects, long-range planning, budgets, documentation, technical decisions, and collaboration with design, quality, supply chain, and production teams.

Requirements

• CNC lathe experience and experience automating CNC lathe processes.
• Experience with CMM and other inspection methods, GD&T, machine and process validation, and capability analysis.
• Ability to troubleshoot machining issues, determine root causes, and use problem-solving tools including FMEA, Pareto, and Cause & Effect diagrams.
• Experience with process development, production readiness, and handoff to production.
• Advanced written and oral communication skills, including presenting complex technical information and data to all organizational levels.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, attention-to-detail, time-management, and project-documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple major projects, and solve immediate issues while maintaining a long-term perspective.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and coach and mentor colleagues.
• Ability to work around manufacturing machinery, noise, moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, vibration, and other listed workplace conditions; eye protection and safety shoes are required.
