Substation Electrical & Distribution Intern (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin, United States; full-time, temporary position.

What you will do

• Apply standard electrical engineering techniques and procedures under the supervision of a professional engineer or Project Manager.
• Create and modify substation physical drawings, including equipment selection and placement.
• Complete grounding studies to mitigate dangerous step and touch potentials within substations.
• Create and modify substation wiring diagrams, control schematics, circuit schematics, equipment detail drawings, maps, schedules, and system studies.
• Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and construction professionals on new services, infrastructure maintenance and repair, and renewable energy projects.
• Participate in mentoring and young professionals programs.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program.
• Understanding of basic circuit analysis and fundamental electrical laws.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills and demonstrated knowledge of software related to the field of study or industry.
• Preference is given to local candidates.
