CNC Machinist I - Apprentice

What you will do

• Operate lathes and CNC machines in accordance with production plans and company standards.
• Read information from technical drawings and prepare or implement tool and fixture changes.
• Complete related instruction and on-the-job training through the apprenticeship program.
• Maintain tooling, equipment, and assigned work areas while reporting unsafe conditions, tooling needs, materials, and production problems.
• Safely operate cranes, forklifts, grinders, and other material-handling equipment.
• Participate in process improvement activities focused on customer requirements and cost reduction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic knowledge of product manufacturing and inspection.
• Basic personal computer proficiency, including word processing, internet, email, and electronic data retrieval.
• Must be a US citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Confidential Security clearance before employment begins.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing at least 40 pounds and perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling.
• Ability to read measurement tooling, operate machine controls, and understand safety signage and alarms.

Nice to have

• Experience or education in turning, milling, grinding equipment, or CNC machining.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
