Senior Occupant Safety Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Troy, MI, USA. Permanent authorization to work full time in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Develop LS-Dyna CAE occupant models for frontal and side-impact virtual analysis.
• Tune airbags, seat belts, seats, steering columns, instrument panels, and interior trim to optimize occupant protection.
• Correlate component CAE models and integrate restraint and interior models into system-level simulations.
• Assess occupant performance across impact configurations against regulatory, consumer, and internal targets.
• Collaborate with DREs, suppliers, safety structures, interior, chassis, and testing teams.
• Support occupant safety attribute delivery with high-quality CAE models through Start-of-Production and attend test labs when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, biomechanics, or an equivalent field.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in LS-Dyna modelling and common pre/post-processing tools, including Primer, Ansa/Meta, HyperWorks, and LS-PrePost.
• Proficiency with Humanetics CAE dummy model pre/post-processing.
• Strong knowledge of North American automotive safety protocols, including FMVSS-208/214, US-NCAP, and IIHS.
• Strong understanding of restraint, interior component modelling, and tuning parameters required to meet regulatory and consumer information targets.
