Principal Data Scientist (CX Analytics)

Location: Campus-based hybrid role in Portland, Maine, USA

Base salary: $109,100–$224,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead applied data science projects that uncover drivers, patterns, risks, and growth opportunities from structured and unstructured customer data.
• Integrate high-volume data from DB2, SQL Server, Web APIs, Teradata, and other sources to create analytical data assets.
• Build predictive models using statistical inference, regression, machine learning, feature selection, feature extraction, scoring, and clustering.
• Design experiments, interpret results, and communicate actionable findings to business and executive stakeholders.
• Automate and integrate analytical solutions into existing business processes in partnership with BI Analysts, Data Engineers, and IT.
• Set data science best practices while coaching and mentoring peers and team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; a Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• Approximately 8 years of professional or equivalent relevant experience is preferred.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries across multiple tables and databases, data validation, reconciliation, and logical data modeling.
• Experience building automated analytics pipelines with file I/O, database integrations, APIs, DevOps libraries, and cloud platforms.
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, data visualization, and leading high-impact analytics projects end to end.
• Strong communication, financial services, project management, executive engagement, leadership, and mentoring capabilities.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field.
• Experience scaling analytics solutions in the cloud and partnering with IT on deployment.
• Experience with AI and LLMs for coding and extracting signals from raw text.
