TL;DR
Senior Professional Engineer, Electrical - Airfield Lighting & Power Distribution (Aviation Electrical): Designing electrical systems for commercial and general aviation airports with an accent on airfield lighting, controls, power distribution, emergency generators, NAVAIDS, and security and communications systems. Focus on coordinating multidisciplinary airport projects, performing construction administration and inspections, and developing electrical designs for complex aviation infrastructure.

Location: On-site in Bloomington, Minnesota, generally five days a week; hybrid flexibility may be discussed. Travel within the United States may be required, up to 25% annually.

Salary: $103,255–$155,000 per year

What you will do

  • Design electrical components for airport and aviation projects, including power distribution, control systems, emergency generators, NAVAIDS, airfield lighting, security, and communications systems.
  • Develop electrical distribution layouts for panel boards, transformers, lighting, fire alarm, security, and data systems.
  • Coordinate electrical work with architectural, civil, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
  • Perform construction administration, site inspections, and field observation duties.
  • Scope electrical design services for proposals, prepare fee estimates, and participate in client interviews and business development activities.
  • Participate in project team meetings, client consultations, and aviation site inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer registration in at least one state.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience designing power, lighting, and signal systems for commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Experience designing 208/120 V and 480/277 V systems, with knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future visa sponsorship; hirify.global does not sponsor employment visas.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel within the United States as needed.

Nice to have

  • Aviation electrical design experience with airport lighting, signage, series circuits, controls, NAVAIDS, standby generators, UPS, power distribution, and communications systems.
  • Experience with FAA Advisory Circulars and Unified Facilities Criteria.
  • Experience with 13.8 kV medium-voltage site power distribution.
  • Experience designing industrial power systems for motor and process equipment controls, including full-voltage motor control, soft starts, and variable-frequency drives.
