Salary: $65,000–$103,000 yearly, based on prior experience and certification requirements, with the opportunity to earn up to $7,000 annually in performance-based pay.

What you will do

  • Create, adapt, and prepare lesson plans aligned with the academic curriculum in collaboration with the grade-level team.
  • Deliver responsive instruction using student data to support mastery of academic skills.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain performance trackers, and adjust teaching strategies to meet learning objectives.
  • Support diagnostic and progress-monitoring assessments across the school.
  • Build a supportive classroom environment through effective classroom management and collaboration with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in school, department, parent, and community events and meetings.

Requirements

  • Special education teaching candidates must be eligible for a traditional New Jersey teaching certification.
  • Hold a valid traditional New Jersey teaching certification, or meet the applicable GPA and content-credit requirements.
  • For degrees conferred after September 2016: have a GPA of at least 3.0, or a GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 with all required Praxis exams passed at a super-score at least 10% above the passing score.
  • For degrees conferred before September 2016: have a GPA of at least 2.75.
  • Meet the appropriate transcript content-credit requirements for the teaching assignment, including 60 liberal arts credits for K–6 assignments.
  • Demonstrate classroom success, subject-matter expertise, student achievement, collaboration, and interest in working with students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
