Special Education Teacher

Location: Rochester, NY, USA; full-time, onsite role.

Salary: $52,000–$68,000 per year.

What you will do

• Modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum that emphasizes diversity.
• Develop and monitor accommodations and modifications through 504 plans and Individualized Education Plans.
• Provide pull-out, push-in, small-group, and one-on-one instruction for students with special needs.
• Collect and analyze student work samples, assessment results, and academic growth data.
• Build supportive relationships with students and families and coordinate appropriate learning resources.
• Participate in professional development, mentorship, coaching, and weekly school-wide meetings.

Requirements

• Commitment to supporting students’ social-emotional and academic development.
• Enthusiasm for collaboration with families, general education teachers, school leaders, and special education teams.
• Academic expertise in Special Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required before employment begins.
• Must meet New York State certification eligibility requirements and become certified in New York within a reasonable period after starting.
• Certification is not required at hiring; candidates without an education degree must enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment.

• 1–2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities.
