Platform Engineering Lead (AWS)

hirify.global operates a multi-market telecommunications business with a group data platform supporting Big Data analytics and machine learning workloads.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the group data platform roadmap, including data lakehouse, data virtualisation, and governance direction.
• Lead platform engineering delivery through PI and sprint planning, enforcing infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, automated testing, code review, and documentation standards.
• Own platform availability, performance, service levels, incident management, observability, and anomaly detection across markets.
• Line-manage platform engineers, set objectives, coach team members, manage performance, and build engineering capability through hiring and development.
• Manage AWS platform costs through FinOps and ensure security-by-default, encryption, least-privilege access, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage relationships, contracts, and roadmaps with AWS, Starburst, and Collibra vendors in coordination with procurement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 7+ years of data or software engineering experience, including 3–5 years leading engineering teams.
• Proven experience delivering and operating production data platforms at scale on AWS.
• Demonstrated experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineers.
• Deep knowledge of data platforms, distributed systems, DataOps, DevOps, platform reliability, data governance, security, and FinOps.
• Ability to lead delivery through agile-at-scale practices, PI planning, prioritisation, stakeholder influence, and incident management.

Nice to have

• AWS professional- or specialty-level certification.
• Experience operating across multiple countries or regulatory jurisdictions.
• Telecommunications or large-enterprise data platform experience.
• Experience with data virtualisation using Starburst and governance tooling using Collibra.
