Specialist Engineer - NOC (SDH/PDH)

Location: Birmingham Small Heath or Glasgow, United Kingdom; hybrid work with office attendance 2–3 days per week and at least 8 days per month.

What you will do

• Monitor customer networks and identify network fault occurrences.
• Acknowledge customer fault reports and perform initial diagnostics and resolution.
• Specialise in SDH and PDH while supporting Ethernet, optical, MSPP, CNMS, Call Manager, Cisco TAC, Prime, and related technologies.
• Manage fault tickets, prioritise incidents, update records, and support SLA compliance.
• Coordinate technical and managerial escalations with customers, internal teams, third-party providers, and equipment vendors.
• Prepare network incident and management reports and support day-to-day Real Time Operations.

Requirements

• Significant telecommunications experience, including network management in a Network Operations Centre.
• Experience with SDH, PDH, and optical technologies, including Ericsson, Nortel, or Ciena equipment.
• Proven network management and troubleshooting experience, including incident reporting.
• Experience working with third-party network providers and equipment vendors.
• Ability to communicate technical and process information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Existing SC clearance or the ability to meet Secure Vetting (SC) criteria is required.
