Transportation Planner

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Hybrid schedule: in-office Tuesday–Thursday and work from home Monday and Friday. Travel throughout the Milwaukee metro area, with occasional evening, weekend, and overnight travel.

Salary: $79,800–$102,200 per year.

What you will do

• Develop schematic designs, corridor studies, and transportation plans.
• Lead planning, coordination, monitoring, and delivery for assigned projects.
• Prepare technical reports, planning documentation, communication materials, graphics, proposals, budgets, schedules, and fee estimates.
• Facilitate stakeholder and community engagement through meetings, workshops, open houses, online forums, and focus groups.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, clients, agency partners, and multidisciplinary project teams to market planning services and develop opportunities.
• Conduct site assessments and attend project meetings and community events throughout the Milwaukee metro area.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in transportation planning, urban planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant planning experience and at least 1 year of project management experience.
• Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating work across disciplines in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience facilitating public engagement sessions for diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of planning principles applied to zoning matters and proficiency with graphics and illustrations, including working knowledge of the Adobe Suite.
• Valid driver’s license, authorization to work in the United States, and no current or future need for visa sponsorship are required.

Nice to have

• AICP certification.
• Experience with NEPA, including Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements.
• Advanced knowledge of data management, ArcGIS, online mapping software, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience preparing funding applications, conceptual project graphics, proposals, contract documentation, budgets, and schedules.
