Senior Java Developer

Location: Onsite in downtown Chicago, Illinois, United States; office attendance is required.

What you will do

• Develop complex enterprise Java applications and backend functionality without close supervision.
• Lead development and support activities, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers.
• Design and deliver scalable, highly available, resilient, and fault-tolerant backend solutions.
• Build RESTful APIs and new application functionality within cross-functional teams.
• Identify and resolve complex application and technical issues, including integration and customer acceptance testing.
• Contribute to technology evaluations, architecture decisions, software quality practices, and enterprise-wide standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree may substitute for some experience requirements.
• 8+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise Java applications, or 5+ years with a relevant master’s degree.
• Strong expertise in Java 17+, backend development, Spring Boot, relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with MVC, microservices, event-driven architecture, RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, and Assertible.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services and messaging technologies including Kinesis, SQS, SNS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and ActiveMQ.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or similar tools, plus the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
