Highway Engineer (Transportation)

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio, United States; hybrid

Salary: $79,800–$114,000 per year

What you will do

• Contribute to highway and roadway design teams on moderate to large projects and independently deliver smaller projects.
• Prepare or oversee horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway sections, intersection layouts, sight-distance determinations, interchange layouts, and right-of-way plans.
• Manage smaller projects or assist with larger projects by preparing scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Coordinate daily communication with design teams, clients, and subconsultants.
• Prepare reports and technical memoranda, advise junior engineers and technical staff, and support delivery within schedule and budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• At least five years of transportation engineering design experience, including roadway engineering design.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location, such as a PE or P.Eng.
• Hands-on experience with Bentley ConceptStation, OpenRoads Designer, Autodesk InfraWorks, Civil 3D, or comparable highway and road CAD software.
• Experience with urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, concept alignments, geometric layouts, and CAD base alignment plans.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, MS Office knowledge, and commitment to active participation in an employee-owned culture.

• Experience working on Ohio DOT projects.
