Highway Project Engineer

Location: Douglassville, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; full-time onsite role

Salary: $124,726.29–$142,544.33 per year

What you will do

• Develop and refine 3D models, alignments, profiles, corridors, and cross-sections for roadway, highway, and transit projects.
• Prepare roadway, highway, and transit infrastructure plans, technical specifications, reports, and client presentations.
• Conduct design reviews, constructability analyses, and quality control checks.
• Collaborate with engineers, surveyors, planners, and project managers on multidisciplinary transportation projects.
• Mentor junior engineers on highway geometry and modeling software best practices.
• Track developments in OpenRoads and related transportation design tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Pennsylvania.
• At least six years of transportation engineering experience focused on roadway and geometric design.
• Strong proficiency with MicroStation InRoads.
• Experience with signing, pavement markings, and traffic control plans.
• Knowledge of PennDOT, AASHTO, and FHWA design standards, along with strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience with traffic signals and intelligent transportation systems.
• Stormwater management and Erosion & Sedimentation Control design or permitting experience.
• Master’s degree or professional society involvement.
