Special Education Teacher - Elementary, Middle, and High School (26-27 SY)

Location: KIPP Capital Region schools in Albany and Troy, New York, United States

Salary: $56,000–$76,669 per year, plus a $5,000 SPED sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Plan and deliver instruction using rigorous, standards-aligned curricula.
• Adapt lessons, develop accommodations, assess student progress, and use data to inform instructional decisions.
• Collaborate with families and special education teams to develop and monitor 504 plans and Individualized Education Plans.
• Provide academic, emotional, and physical support while maintaining high expectations.
• Build a positive, calm, inclusive classroom and contribute to school-wide culture.
• Communicate with families, participate in conferences and school events, and attend staff meetings and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid New York State Special Education certification required.
• Knowledge of national, state, and local special education statutes and laws.
• Academic expertise in special education, humanities, social sciences, STEM, or a related field.
• Three or more years of school educator experience preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including outside regular business hours.
