What you will do

  • Manage the school’s special education programs and coordinate services aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans.
  • Provide pull-out, push-in, small-group, and one-on-one instruction using differentiated strategies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate special education, IEP, and pre-referral meetings with students, families, teachers, and school leaders.
  • Manage student evaluations, including classroom observations, testing, intake assessment reviews, and academic growth data collection.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and families to implement accommodations and support students’ academic and social-emotional development.
  • Maintain special education records, prepare regulatory reports, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before employment begins.
  • Academic expertise in Special Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting K-12 students’ academic and social-emotional development.
  • Interest in impacting students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
  • Must meet New Jersey state certification eligibility requirements, including the applicable cumulative GPA threshold.
  • Instructional staff must obtain New Jersey certification within a reasonable period after starting employment.
