Certified Inpatient Medical Coding Auditor

Location: Remote nationwide within the United States. Occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day, scheduled between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Salary: $71,100–$97,800 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Review inpatient medical records and hospital claims for accurate coding and reimbursement.
• Assign and validate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG codes.
• Audit coding quality and identify opportunities to improve payment accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve provider disputes using a fair, fact-based approach.
• Analyze complex clinical documentation and coding scenarios.
• Collaborate with internal teams to clarify coding and medical information while reducing payment errors.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of MSDRG coding auditing experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification held for at least 4 years.
• Experience performing inpatient coding audits in a health insurance or hospital setting.
• Experience reading and interpreting claims.
• Ability to gather or reference data in multiple systems simultaneously.
• Dedicated, interruption-free workspace required to protect member PHI and HIPAA information; home internet must provide at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.

Nice to have

• APDRG coding or auditing experience.
• Financial recovery experience.
