Coding Specialist

Location: Fully remote, home-based office; Englewood, Colorado

Salary: $25–$32 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Abstract clinical and demographic information from medical records for coding.
• Assign diagnostic and procedure codes in accordance with coding and reimbursement guidelines.
• Identify principal and secondary diagnoses with minimal error and maintain 97% accuracy in internal QA reviews.
• Record diagnostic procedures and determine required medical information.
• Request missing diagnoses from physicians and coordinate patient-chart information with medical assistants and other staff.
• Maintain medical-record confidentiality and update coding procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of medical coding experience; three years preferred.
• CPC or CCS certification required.
• Knowledge of medical-record coding procedures and ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to work fully remotely from a home-based office in the United States.
