TL;DR
Supplier Quality Engineer (HVACR): Supporting regional suppliers for Vilter and Copeland compressors through supplier audits, PPAPs, corrective actions, and process improvement with an accent on APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and manufacturing quality. Focus on developing supplier capability, supporting new product launches and transitions, and optimizing sourcing, design, and manufacturing processes across the Northern Midwest region.

Location: Cudahy, Wisconsin, USA; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office. Up to 30% travel to North American suppliers and hirify.global locations.

What you will do

  • Evaluate regional suppliers through quality system audits using the hirify.global Supplier Audit and support supplier selection and development.
  • Review and disposition PPAPs, deviations, audit findings, and supplier corrective actions.
  • Assess supplier process capability and documentation, including PFMEAs, control plans, and other process controls.
  • Develop suppliers through site visits, process audits, lean projects, and manufacturing process guidance.
  • Support new product development programs, supplier transitions, design reviews, and design-for-manufacturing improvements.
  • Coordinate with procurement and commodity leaders while supporting supplier quality activities across the Northern Midwest region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or manufacturing, or equivalent work experience.
  • Quality engineering experience with APQP, flow charting, control plans, PFMEA, statistical process control, and measurement system analysis, including Gage R&R.
  • Experience with problem solving, corrective action, process improvement, quality auditing, quality systems, ISO 9001, and/or IATF 16949.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, leadership, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in engineering or an MBA.
  • ASQ certifications, such as CQA, CQE, or CSQP, or a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Advanced statistics, lean principles, and process improvement experience, including Kaizen, Kanban, value stream mapping, continuous flow, 5S+1, poka-yoke, and waste elimination.
  • Experience balancing stakeholder needs across operations, procurement, product engineering, and suppliers.
