Lamination Technician I (Marine Manufacturing)

Location: Merritt Island, Florida, United States; on-site work required

Salary: $18.70–$24.30 per hour, plus a $0.60 lamination premium and possible shift differential.

What you will do

• Mix and lay up composite materials, fiberglass, resins, catalysts, gel coats, foam, and structural adhesives on mold surfaces.
• Use open-mold and vacuum-infusion processes to manufacture hulls, decks, and small fiberglass parts.
• Install wood and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and molds.
• Operate saws, drills, grinders, pneumatic tools, and overhead hoists.
• Locate parts using blueprints, work instructions, tools, and fixtures, then sand finished fiberglass components.
• Follow evolving quality, safety, chemical-handling, and PPE standards.

Requirements

• Ability to work on-site in Merritt Island, Florida, from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; overtime is frequently required on Fridays.
• Fluent English speaking, reading, comprehension, and writing skills required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read tape measures and blueprints and follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, climb, and work in confined, hot, humid, noisy, and non-climate-controlled areas for 10+ hour shifts; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use required PPE, including respirators, gloves, chemical-resistant aprons, and suits, and to follow chemical safety procedures.

Nice to have

• Experience with forklifts, overhead hoists, computers, fiberglass, or gel-coat applications.
