Location: Amandelbult Complex, Thabazimbi, Limpopo, South Africa; full-time onsite role

What you will do

• Control the movement of trains on surface railways using approved train control methods.
• Schedule rail-system loads, allocate tasks to drivers, and coordinate locomotive allocation, deliveries, contractors, and railway maintenance with the Shift Foreman.
• Authorize normal and abnormal train movements, yard and siding movements, inspection trolley movements, track occupations, and the movement of defective rolling stock when confirmed safe.
• Monitor the location of all trains, prevent conflicting movements, communicate track defects and work activities, and stop operations when conditions are unsafe.
• Operate the weighbridge computer, record tonnage, maintain train movement authorities and control documentation, and log defects and incidents.
• Maintain regular radio communication with Train Drivers, confirm that instructions are understood, and ensure effective shift handovers.

Requirements

• Grade 12 and NTC 1.
• Completed and passed Surface Railways Rules and Regulations training.
• Certificate of competency for specific locomotive classes and certificate of competency for train handling.
• Knowledge of yard and siding layouts, administrative procedures, communication protocols, operational processes, risk management techniques, and critical controls.
• English literacy is required. Computer literacy and the ability to monitor benchmarks and identify performance gaps are required.
• Six months to complete applicable laboratory modules.
