Lead SCADA/MES Developer (Ignition/Sepasoft)

Location: Frederick, Maryland, United States; the role requires hands-on support at manufacturing facilities, including on-site implementation and troubleshooting and occasional off-shift support.

Salary: $103,300–$177,700 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, configuration, enhancement, and production support of SCADA and MES applications using Ignition and Sepasoft.
• Develop Ignition Perspective screens, views, components, and manufacturing applications with Python/Jython and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Design and support enterprise-to-site MES architectures and integrations with PLCs, ERP systems, quality systems, databases, APIs, historians, and other plant-floor technologies.
• Support MQTT-based data collection, Unified Namespace architectures, HighByte solutions, GE Historian, TimeBase Historian, and integrations with autonomous mobile robots.
• Act as the escalation point for complex production issues, leading troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and improvements to reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Provide technical direction, establish development and support standards, mentor developers, and lead cross-functional digital manufacturing projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing or supporting SCADA, MES, manufacturing applications, industrial software, or related technology.
• Hands-on development and production support experience with Ignition, including Python/Jython and SQL Server scripting.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production system issues and providing technical direction to developers or technical resources.
• Experience working with manufacturing, engineering, controls, IT, and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to travel to manufacturing facilities and provide on-site and occasional off-shift support based on production needs.

Nice to have

• Experience with Sepasoft Batch, Document Management, OEE, Settings & Changeover, and enterprise-to-site architectures.
• Experience with HighByte, Unified Namespace, MQTT, Sparkplug, GE Historian, or TimeBase Historian.
• Experience with PLCs, industrial automation, assembly operations, AMRs, VDA 5050, REST APIs, JSON, web services, and messaging protocols.
• Experience with GitHub, CI/CD, DevOps, automated deployments, Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
