Software Engineer/Lead Software Engineer (OpenText Exstream)

Location: Hybrid role for candidates living within a 180-mile radius of Bloomington, IL; Richardson, TX; Atlanta, GA; or Tempe, AZ. Time is split between working from home and in the office.

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and support batch and on-demand applications using OpenText Exstream.
• Create high-volume customer communications, including policy documents, renewal notices, billing statements, claim correspondence, and important notices.
• Collaborate with business, infrastructure, and application teams across the Customer Communications product suite.
• Modernize communication tools, including the adoption of cloud technologies.
• Maintain design and development standards for document quality, accessibility, and reliable delivery by mail and online.
• Assess upstream and downstream impacts and troubleshoot application and deployment issues.

Requirements

• Prior software engineering and programming experience.
• Experience with composition software, preferably OpenText Exstream or similar tools, including shared components and content import functionality.
• Familiarity with data dictionaries, Exstream driver files, shared forms, code repositories, version control, and deployment packages.
• Understanding of APIs, JSON payload schemas, API testing tools such as Postman or Insomnia, and output formats such as AFP and PDF.
• Strong knowledge of data structures including XSD, XML, and JSON, as well as data merge techniques.
• Must be eligible to work lawfully in the United States immediately; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Customer Communication Management practices and unit testing concepts.
• Object-oriented programming experience, including JavaScript or Python.
• Experience with OpenText Exstream tools such as Communications Designer, Content Author, or Empower.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
