Manufacturing Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

Location: Onsite at the hirify.global campus in Pella, Iowa, USA. First shift; occasional travel is expected.

What you will do

• Identify and implement process improvements that increase quality, efficiency, and sustainability across production areas.
• Support new product introductions and manufacturing initiatives with engineering, welding, assembly, and machining teams.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles, including Just-In-Time production and Kaizen events, to reduce waste and improve production flow.
• Document and analyze current- and future-state processes using value stream mapping and standard work documentation.
• Help design and optimize tooling and fixtures while gaining exposure to digital work instruction platforms.
• Support documentation and change management through PLM and ECN systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill, and contribute to data-driven decisions using ERP, Power BI, and IoT-enabled monitoring tools.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of lean manufacturing, tooling design, and process improvement techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a growth mindset.
• Willingness to collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Just-In-Time manufacturing, statistical process variation, and digital manufacturing tools.
