Marine Technician

Location: Seneca, South Carolina, United States. Full-time onsite work based at Clemson Marina, with occasional work at Eclipse Marine – Seneca and local travel for meetings, boat shows, and promotional events.

Pay: $16.00–$36.50 per hour, consisting of a $16.00–$20.50 base rate plus $5.00–$16.00 per hour in commission.

What you will do

• Install, repair, and maintain outboard, sterndrive, and inboard engines and other vessel components.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using technical expertise, manufacturer tools, repair orders, and vessel specifications.
• Prepare repair quotes by researching parts and estimating labor using catalogs, standard jobs, and flat rates.
• Conduct vessel safety inspections and recommend required or preventative maintenance based on service histories.
• Track labor and repair-order progress, communicate approval needs, and complete final documentation.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, move boats when needed, and support service administration, parts tasks, training, and boat-show events.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Marine Technician with demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting capability.
• Experience with outboard and inboard engine systems and the ability to resolve mechanical and electrical issues with limited oversight.
• High school diploma or equivalent; willingness to pursue industry certifications.
• Personal basic-use mechanical tools and toolbox, basic computer literacy, and the ability to write professional service summaries.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, reliability, and commitment to safety standards.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR meeting company standards; successful background check and drug screening required.

• Manufacturer certifications such as Mercury or Yamaha.
