Maintenance Mechanic III (Mechanical Systems)

Location: Bar Harbor, Maine, United States; onsite work with rotating on-call shifts and on-campus emergency response required within one hour

Pay range: $33.51–$48.60 per hour

What you will do

• Lead the design, programming, commissioning, operation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of process equipment and mechanical systems.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for specifications, design, installation, and commissioning of construction and renovation projects.
• Oversee contractors involved in capital and operational projects and contribute to engineering specifications and long-range capital planning.
• Develop preventive maintenance strategies, system performance benchmarks, standard operating procedures, and corrective actions based on root cause analysis.
• Train and mentor junior and mid-level technicians while supporting 24/7 critical facility operations.
• Maintain CMMS records and documentation for calibrations, system changes, audits, inspections, and performance reviews.

Requirements

• Expert-level knowledge of mechanical principles and experience operating and maintaining complex mechanical systems in critical environments.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on-call coverage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, mentoring, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to use CMMS software and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and piping system diagrams.
• Certification in confined-space entry or ability to qualify within six months.
• Trade licenses and certifications are highly valued; occasional travel to other sites may be required.
