Director, Physical Security

Location: North Ryde, New South Wales, Australia; hybrid working arrangement with up to 25–30% international travel across APAC and China.

What you will do

• Lead and execute the APAC and China security strategy in alignment with global objectives and business priorities.
• Oversee physical security, travel security, crisis management, incident response, investigations, and executive protection.
• Assess and mitigate geopolitical, operational, site-specific, and intelligence-related security risks.
• Advise regional leadership and partner with Legal, HR, Supply Chain, IT, and business leaders on secure operations and continuity.
• Lead regional security teams and external providers while establishing governance, standards, metrics, and security programs.
• Manage budgets, resources, vendor relationships, and security support for transformation and business separation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Business, Criminal Justice, International Relations, or a related field.
• Typically 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate security, risk management, or related leadership roles.
• Experience leading regional or global security programs, preferably across APAC and China.
• Strong knowledge of geopolitical risk, crisis management, and security operations in complex markets.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, work in a matrixed organization, and manage third-party security providers.
• Dedicated change management experience is required; candidates without this background will not be considered. English proficiency is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience with large-scale transformations, business separations, global security standards, or governance models.
• Background in investigations, intelligence, or risk analysis.
• Professional security or risk certifications such as CPP or PSP.
• Mandarin or another APAC language.
