Focus on developing innovative remediation strategies, overseeing field investigations and remediation systems, negotiating with regulatory agencies, and mentoring engineering teams.

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; full-time regular position with travel as required.

Salary: $123,123–$175,890 per year, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographic location.

What you will do

  • Lead complex remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial designs, remedial actions, and long-term site closure strategies.
  • Develop remediation strategies for contaminated soil, groundwater, sediment, bedrock, abandoned mines, and industrial facilities.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record and senior technical lead, reviewing engineering deliverables and supporting project quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop project scopes, work plans, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, field investigations, and technical reports.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and construction documentation, and support remediation system startup, optimization, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
  • Lead regulatory meetings and negotiations, manage client relationships, mentor junior and mid-level professionals, and support proposals and business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in remedial investigation, remedial design, remedial action implementation, and project management; 12 years is preferred.
  • Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location, such as a PE or P.Eng license.
  • Experience with environmental contaminants and remediation technologies, including VOCs, SVOCs, metals, PCBs, pesticides, PFAS, NAPL, pumping and treatment, dredging, in-situ solidification, chemical oxidation, bioremediation, and capping.
  • Strong leadership, client management, communication, team-building, data analysis, technical reporting, and regulatory negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow health and safety protocols, manage multiple deadlines, and travel as required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Federal Superfund, DoD, DOE, USACE, mining remediation, abandoned mine lands, PFAS projects, risk assessment, and remedy optimization.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Bentley, environmental data management platforms, and Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, and Word.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • PMP certification or demonstrated project management leadership.
  • Established client relationships and a successful business development track record.
