Principal NPI Mechanical Engineer (Gas Turbines)

Location: San Diego, California; onsite five days a week. Partial relocation assistance may be offered. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $120,600–$180,900 annually

What you will do

• Drive new product introduction for turbomachinery from concept through beneficial use using agile development processes.
• Partner with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into engineering requirements and solutions.
• Develop design concepts, conduct trade studies, and create detailed 3D models and mechanical drawings.
• Perform structural, torsional, lifting, stress, and CFD analyses to validate performance, reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Create and maintain bills of materials and product documentation supporting manufacturing and product traceability.
• Investigate field issues, perform root cause analysis, support first-article builds, and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of structural mechanics and mechanical design principles.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as Creo and PLM systems such as Windchill.
• Experience with FEA and/or CFD tools, engineering drawing standards, GD&T, and stress, torsional, or lifting analyses.
• Familiarity with agile development processes.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with gas turbine systems and their operation.
• Advanced proficiency with ANSYS, RISA, STAR-CCM+, or similar analysis tools.
• Experience with Ansys SpaceClaim and configurable or linked data structures.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes.
