Sr. NPD Project Engineer – Mechanical

G&W Electric develops engineered electrical power grid solutions and manufactures products for the power industry.

What you will do

• Lead assigned portions of the mechanical new product design and product realization process.
• Develop schedules, coordinate low-complexity projects, prepare budgets, and define resource requirements.
• Create project test plans, build and test prototype components or assemblies, and coordinate internal and external testing.
• Perform engineering analysis, including mechanical, thermal, and multiphysics feasibility checks.
• Review test data, conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting, and document processes, materials, results, and project activity.
• Coordinate with purchasing, vendors, customers, Sales/Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineers, Designers, and Technicians; approve applicable engineering drawings before release.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of progressive engineering design and/or development experience.
• Experience with 3D parametric modeling, finite element modeling, mechanism design, linkages, springs, statics, dynamics, and material properties.
• Familiarity with casting, machining, molding, stamping, and forming manufacturing methods, as well as the new product development Stage Gate process.
• Experience with DFMEA, DOE, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Ability to write technical documents, interpret technical standards, communicate across organizational levels, use Microsoft Office, and operate small hand and power tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with ProE/Creo and finite element analysis.
• Experience with medium- or high-voltage electrical power systems.
• Experience designing trip-free, stored-energy, or actuated mechanisms.
• Creativity, initiative, self-directed learning, and experience solving challenging technical problems.

Typical annual pay: $94,200–$135,000, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
