Architecture Design Principal

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; full-time, regular position in the Boston office

Salary: $190,000–$225,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead innovative, creative, integrated, and effective architectural design solutions.
• Guide design concepts from project pursuits and selection through successful completion across multiple projects.
• Set and support design excellence goals while balancing project management objectives and budgets.
• Teach, train, mentor, and develop designers and interdisciplinary architecture and engineering teams.
• Lead design efforts across multiple offices while partnering with project managers and senior leaders.
• Attract and retain design staff and develop internal design talent.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in architecture or a closely related field preferred; bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and professional experience required.
• 15+ years of related experience, including experience as a lead designer across projects of varied scales and complexities.
• At least 7 years of project management experience.
• Professional architectural registration.
• Experience with institutional clients in healthcare, civic, education, science, or transportation architecture.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, organization, project management, writing, communication, and client presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Established design portfolio and reputation demonstrated through awards, publications, education, or similar venues.
• Experience or interest in sustainable building design.
• Active participation in local, national, or international professional design organizations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.
