Middle School Math Teacher (Immediate 6th Grade, and to Build a Candidate Pool) (Mathematics Education): Planning and delivering data-driven middle school math instruction while supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth with an accent on assessment, differentiation, and classroom culture. Focus on designing standards-aligned lessons, adjusting instruction based on student progress, and building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, USA; on-site interview required

What you will do

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction for middle school students, including immediate sixth-grade needs.
  • Set academic and individual goals, design assessments, analyze student data, and adjust instruction to support continuous growth.
  • Develop long-term plans, units, and lessons using backward design, critical thinking, inquiry, and differentiated instruction.
  • Establish a supportive, disciplined classroom culture that promotes student responsibility, independence, and high expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, incorporating students’ backgrounds and experiences into instruction.
  • Collaborate with the grade-level team, interventionist, and Principal while contributing to professional development, committees, and school-wide initiatives.

Requirements

  • Maryland State Teacher Certification or eligibility to obtain certification required.
  • Eligibility for hire by Baltimore City Public Schools required.
  • Passion for working with students from historically resilient communities.
  • Two years of public-school teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience teaching in a predominantly African American environment preferred.
  • Strong subject knowledge, preparation, reflective practice, communication, and classroom-management skills.

Hiring process
