What you will do
- Teach GED preparation, TABE reading and math preparation, and high school diploma classes.
- Deliver instruction in social skills, employability skills, applied academics, and project-based learning.
- Plan relevant lessons and use competency-based instruction, computer-assisted learning, cooperative learning, and student accommodations.
- Manage the classroom, engage trainees, maintain a safe learning environment, and model appropriate workplace behavior.
- Track attendance, student progress, math gains, TABE achievements, evaluations, and case notes.
- Participate in team, departmental, and staff meetings; complete training and required weekly reports.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree from a four-year college or university.
- Teaching certification in the state where the center is located; certification may be waived only if the center cannot hire a certified teacher, with certification then required to be pursued.
- Ability to work with probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to analyze information, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting information to students, managers, peers, and the public.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
