Salary: $52,000–$68,000 per year

What you will do

• Teach foundational middle school mathematics, including ratios and proportions, expressions and equations, and the number system.
• Use the in-house Common Core State Standards-based mathematics curriculum and culturally responsive problem-solving activities.
• Develop students’ critical thinking, perseverance, confidence, and ability to solve problems independently.
• Analyze student work samples and assessments with the principal and instructional coach, then differentiate instruction.
• Build supportive relationships with students and families and coordinate resources for learning needs.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams through professional development, coaching, mentorship, and weekly school-wide meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before employment begins.
• Academic expertise in mathematics, science, technology, engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to students’ social-emotional and academic development.
• Interest in supporting K–12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Certification is not required at hire, but New York State certification eligibility is required.
• Teachers without an education degree must enroll in a teacher preparation program, maintain a GPA of at least 2.5, and become certified in New York within a reasonable period after starting employment.
