Mechanic Diesel Fleet Heavy Truck

Location: Alameda, California, USA; position based out of Alameda with occasional travel to other company or client sites.

Pay range: $29.45–$40.47 per hour, depending on the hiring locality.

What you will do

• Repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel trucks, refuse bodies, chassis, and related equipment.
• Service hydraulic, electrical, air-brake, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and engine systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, basic tire work, welding, and fabrication.
• Use electronic diagnostic tools to identify equipment malfunctions.
• Provide safe roadside service when required and return vehicles to operation efficiently.
• Complete company training and support drivers operating the fleet.

Requirements

• At least one year of technician experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment, or graduation from an accredited automotive or technical school within three months.
• Basic ability to inspect and repair heavy-truck or automotive suspension, steering, engine, transmission, brake, electrical, hydraulic, drivetrain, and diesel-emissions systems.
• Experience with Class 1–5 light/medium-duty and Class 7–8 heavy-duty trucks, aircraft, or ships.
• Valid driver's license.
• Basic understanding of work-order labor-time standards.
• Manual-transmission fleet experience, including 10-speed transmissions, is relevant to the site.

Nice to have

• ASE certifications T1–T8.
• Commercial driver's license.
