Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic

Location: Epping, North Dakota, United States; work takes place in the shop and at field construction worksites, including travel to projects.

What you will do

• Diagnose, overhaul, test, and repair heavy construction equipment from Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Kenworth, and other manufacturers.
• Troubleshoot engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and Tier 3 and Tier 4 emissions systems.
• Read and apply mechanical, electrical, fuel, and hydraulic schematics.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, component removal and installation, and truck and trailer servicing.
• Maintain daily inspection and service logs, tools, and required documentation.
• Travel to worksites and independently restore equipment to working condition so crews can resume projects.

Requirements

• Three to five years of experience maintaining and repairing trucks and heavy construction equipment, including scrapers, skid steers, bulldozers, excavators, and backhoes.
• Experience working on multiple makes and models, especially Caterpillar, Komatsu, and John Deere.
• CDL Class B endorsement or higher, or the ability to obtain one after hiring.
• Own basic hand tools and maintain a good driving record for operating company vehicles.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, manage time and stress, communicate professionally, and adapt to scheduling needs.
• Ability to pass pre- and post-employment drug screening and work history verification.

Nice to have

• Ability to clearly explain repair steps and provide directions.
• Experience completing purchase orders, timesheets, and other paperwork and answering construction-process questions.
