Mid-Level Inspector (Construction)

Location: North Charleston, South Carolina, with assignments in Charleston and Columbia and daily travel to project sites

Salary: $58,804–$66,822 per year

What you will do

• Perform construction inspections for highway, bridge, rail, and tunnel projects.
• Monitor contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and construction safety requirements.
• Establish engineering controls and inspect completed work.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and document work measurements.
• Conduct on-site material testing and sampling.
• Communicate with project staff and clients and interpret construction plans and technical specifications.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of construction inspection experience.
• Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather, traverse rough terrain, and walk or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual tasks.
• Basic computer and tablet operation skills.
• Ability to work nights and weekends when required; limited overnight travel may be necessary.

• SCDOT Earthwork, Drainage and Base Course Technician certification.
• SCDOT Asphalt Roadway Technician certification.
• ACI Field Level I certification.
• SCDOT concrete, foundations, pavement preservation, or temporary traffic control certifications.
• Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector certification.
