CEI Inspector II

Location: Georgia, USA; the position targets Northwest Georgia and supports transportation projects within the state.

Salary: $52,000–$73,000 per year ($25–$35 per hour).

What you will do

• Perform independent complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes, materials, and traffic control measures.
• Inspect asphalt, concrete, pavement, drainage structures, foundations, piling, reinforcing steel, structural steel, and backfill for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Supervise inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections.
• Perform project engineering duties on smaller construction projects when acting in lieu of the Project Engineer.
• Complete field measurements, pay-item documentation, reports, calculations, and other required contract records.
• Participate in concept meetings, field plan reviews, CPM schedule reviews, project close-out, and related project activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of progressive transportation technician experience with a state highway agency or consultant, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
• Knowledge of highway construction materials, methods, equipment, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Ability to read and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures; prepare and review reports; and instruct other employees.
• Valid authorization to operate motor vehicles under Georgia law.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, and internet tools.

• GDOT WECS certification.
• GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
• GSWCC Level 1a Erosion Control certification.
• Passing scores on GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests for general provisions, highway mathematics, plan reading, pavements, drainage structures, and erosion control.
