Assistant Controller (Manufacturing)

Location: Chicago, IL, USA; full-time onsite position

Company

DRC Heat Transfer designs and manufactures custom heat transfer and cooling solutions for power generators used primarily in data centers and is a subsidiary of Smiths Group PLC.

What you will do

• Support month-end and year-end close processes, prepare consolidated financial statements, and reconcile balance sheets.
• Implement financial strategies, budgets, forecasts, and scenario planning to support organizational decisions.
• Maintain internal controls, ensure financial compliance, and manage customer, supplier, and commission control processes.
• Support accounts receivable and payable, fixed assets, capital expenditures, inventory accounting, and physical count reconciliations.
• Present financial insights and recommendations to the DRC Controller and support finance process improvement initiatives.
• Support the integration of a standalone privately held organization into a publicly traded Smiths Group subsidiary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a senior accountant, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, financial management practices, and GAAP.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• MBA and/or CPA qualification.
• Additional experience working in a manufacturing environment.
