Principal Embedded Software Engineer I (Aerospace)

Company

Develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.

What you will do

• Design and implement embedded software from requirements through production and commercial deployment.
• Develop, test, debug, document, and review system software and designs.
• Analyze software efficiency, stability, scalability, I/O performance, and resource management.
• Integrate and validate new product designs, including Linux-based single-board computers and high-reliability microcontroller systems.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, assess third-party and open-source software, and support software quality assurance.
• Provide post-production and in-orbit customer support, present engineering design reviews, and contribute to proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• 9+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Hands-on embedded hardware development and troubleshooting, including API design for FPGA interfaces.
• Experience with aerospace products, C or C++, embedded systems, preemptive multitasking real-time operating systems, and real-time system coding techniques.
• Knowledge of IP protocols, interfaces, hardware subsystems, multithreaded applications, configuration management, defect tracking, and peer review.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time Linux, ARM processors, fully featured microcontrollers, and software development kit design.
• Ability to read electronic schematics and component data sheets.
