Sr Backend Application Developer (Java)

Location: Saint Petersburg, Florida, United States; hybrid work with attendance at a hirify.global office at least 10–12 days per month.

What you will do

• Analyze complex system requirements, program interactions, and interfaces between components and subsystems.
• Design, write, debug, review, and maintain source code for software applications.
• Lead assigned projects by coordinating tasks and performance across cross-functional teams and multiple sites.
• Recommend technologies, methodologies, hardware configurations, and opportunities to reuse existing code.
• Participate in system testing, validation, documentation, and review of test results.
• Provide technical expertise, resolve complex programming issues, and apply preventive approaches to reduce rework.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience, including Java 8 and J2EE development.
• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, ORM technologies, JPA/Hibernate, and object-oriented design principles.
• Experience building highly scalable microservices and working with Oracle database queries, PL/SQL, and functions.
• Experience with JMS messaging systems such as IBM MQ or ActiveMQ.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science is required; Computer Engineering is also accepted.

Nice to have

• Experience with caching technologies, Kafka or similar messaging platforms, Apigee or other API gateways, and AWS cloud services.
• Familiarity with the AI ecosystem and related technologies.
