Software Engineer (Backend-Java)

Location: Fully remote for residents of Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin. The role requires work from the contiguous United States.

Salary: $127,800–$135,900 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, review, build, and deploy scalable software with cross-functional engineering teams and government partners.
• Develop end-to-end cloud-native microservices and improvements to existing enterprise systems.
• Ship user-focused features in an agile environment.
• Create tools and processes that automate development, testing, and production workflows.
• Write and review technical documentation, conduct code reviews, and participate in hiring activities as needed.
• Join the on-call rotation, support production systems, and investigate operational issues.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience working in an agile, multidisciplinary team, preferably on medium- to large-scale cloud platforms.
• Production experience with Java, Spring Boot, cloud-native microservices, RESTful APIs, and containerized deployment patterns.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, using JDBC and ORM tools such as Hibernate.
• Experience with DevOps practices, preferably Jenkins CI/CD, AWS cloud-native services, and data engineering.
• Strong problem-solving, strategic decision-making, reliability, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; work authorization must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. Government background checks or security clearance may be required depending on the contract.
