Bindery Operator 3 - Die Cutter

Location: Durham, North Carolina, United States; full-time, 12-hour day shift

Pay range: $24.00–$35.00 per hour. Additional compensation may include sign-on bonus, overtime, shift differential, call-in, and standby pay.

What you will do

• Set up, adjust, and operate auxiliary binding and die-cutting equipment.
• Operate complex bindery machines, including folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding or gluing machines.
• Adjust and coordinate multiple interconnected machine stations for book, magazine, catalog, and other printed-material production.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and maintain operating accuracy.
• Direct the production crew and monitor quality, output, and productivity.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of bindery machine setup, adjustment procedures, capabilities, and limitations.
• Knowledge of how different paper weights, sizes, types, colors, moisture levels, and curling affect machinability.
• Ability to use standard, specialized, and manufacturer-provided tools to adjust and maintain bindery equipment.
• Ability to make difficult adjustments to powered machines using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, and knives.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions specifying machine-operation sequences and dimensional-accuracy requirements.
