Location: One Financial Center, Boston, Massachusetts; office and field work, with travel within Massachusetts

Salary: $160,647.46–$183,597.09 per year

What you will do

• Lead bridge and culvert inspections across a variety of projects.
• Plan, execute, and document inspections, including coordinating with agencies, vendors, clients, and consultants.
• Prepare bridge inspection reports using client-specific templates, forms, and electronic data collection systems.
• Develop AutoCAD plans and sketches, design calculations, estimates, specifications, and bid documents for bridge and culvert projects.
• Prepare bridge load-rating calculations and reports using structural analysis software.
• Supervise and mentor inspection team members while supporting project budgets, schedules, and proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited four-year university.
• At least 7 years of experience focused on bridge inspections.
• Completion of FHWA-NHI-130055, Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.
• Experience with structural engineering design and/or bridge load ratings using analysis software, plus AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Massachusetts Professional Engineering License preferred; PE licensure from other states accepted.
• Ability to perform year-round field work in adverse weather, around bridges, roads, rail, water, and tunnels; a valid Class D driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.

Nice to have

• Team Leader experience for Massachusetts agencies.
• Additional FHWA/NHI training in fracture-critical structures, movable bridges, tunnels, or ancillary structures.
• Experience delivering reports in MassDOT Bridge Inspection Management Systems.
• Willingness to travel outside Massachusetts occasionally.
