Bridge Designer/EIT (Structural Engineering)

Location: Vienna, Virginia; Washington, DC; or Fulton, Maryland, United States. Local candidates preferred.

Salary: $90,168–$121,992 per year in Washington, DC.

What you will do

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to bridge designs.
• Develop designs for steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, segmental, cable, and box culvert structures.
• Work on highway and railway bridge and interchange projects.
• Perform structural load calculations, geometric layouts, quantity development, and bridge inspections.
• Develop structural details using specialized design and analysis software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or a related engineering field.
• Experience with bridge or structural design.
• EIT certification or a passed FE exam; candidates hired without EIT will be titled Bridge Designer and expected to obtain it for career progression.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and structural engineering software such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
• Knowledge of Bentley OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk InfraWorks and Civil 3D.
• Strong computer skills for structural layout and design, good communication skills, and willingness to work collaboratively.

• Master’s degree in structural engineering.
