What you will do
- Manage import/export trade compliance activities across John Crane sites in Mexico and ensure adherence to Mexican customs regulations.
- Maintain controls and operational frameworks for export controls, sanctions, customs, anti-boycott requirements, classification, licensing, permitting, screening, recordkeeping, and self-assessments.
- Develop tariff mitigation strategies, including tariff modelling, forecasting, scenario planning, free trade zone and USMCA utilization, and duty recovery initiatives.
- Support automation of classification, transaction screening, documentation workflows, and country-of-origin governance.
- Conduct or support audits, investigations, remediation, risk assessments, and corrective actions while maintaining audit readiness.
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Data, Commercial, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, external advisors, and global trade compliance stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Fluent spoken, written, and reading English and Spanish.
- Significant trade compliance experience in companies with Mexican operations and complex global supply chains.
- Deep knowledge of Mexican customs processes, including Ley Aduanera and the IMMEX program, plus customs broker management.
- Experience with compliance policies, procedures, audits, investigations, export and import controls, economic sanctions, anti-bribery and anti-corruption requirements, and tariff management.
- Experience with ERP systems and solid financial and analytical capabilities; SAP ERP, SAP GTS, QAD ERP, and other trade compliance management systems are relevant.
