Field Service Technician (Automation)

Location: Old Pittwater Rd, Brookvale NSW 2100, Australia; field-based work across Sydney with daily travel to customer sites.

What you will do

• Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, inspections, cleaning, and upkeep on automated recycling equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, automation, sensor, pneumatic, and communication-system faults.
• Install and commission reverse vending machines and bulk processing systems at new customer sites.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve uptime, reliability, safety, and efficiency.
• Complete service reports and document maintenance activities and fault resolutions.
• Provide technical support to site partners and collaborate with internal teams on product and process improvements.

Requirements

• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated, mechanical, electrical, or industrial equipment.
• Understanding of software and hardware integration, with good network diagnostic skills.
• Strong mechanical, problem-solving, fault-finding, communication, reporting, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based environment and follow safe work methodologies.
• Valid driver's licence, good driver history, and willingness to travel throughout the service area are required.
• Successful candidates must complete a driver history report, police check, reference checks, and a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with electronic PCBs and connectors, AC/DC/stepper motors, single- and three-phase systems, conveyor systems, ultrasonic sensors, CAN bus, automation, pneumatic systems, and wired or wireless communications.
